CastPodder had a great run, but I think it's time to move on. The hiatus has allowed me to think about where I want the podcast to go, and although Castpodder will be gone, another show will take its place.

Same voice; same opinions; different name. I'll get back to you on the URL later.

I am unsure how many people are actually following the blog, but I've got a small request for listeners. I'm thinking of reading more of my writing on the show and I'd really like to get people's opinions about what I should share.

Therefore, I want people to go here. Look over those stories and please choose which story you'd like me to read. Or you can comment and give possible topics for next week's show. I'm all ears this week. :) Thanks muchly!

The background noise was kind of annoying at the beginning and I couldn't figure out how to filter it all out without lowering the volume too much. I should have waited for a more quiet time. Podcast files, finally fixed

So, after fiddling about too much with the settings in Audacity, I've finally finally finally figured out the ideal bitrate/sample rate for my mp3 files so that they don't play chimpmunkish or giantish through Wimpy. This should mean that any directory which uses the Flash-based mp3 player (like Podcast Alley) will play my files at the correct speed now. This also means that none of my files are over 4MB in size.

Such an accomplishment!

It's come to my attention that some other people may be experiencing the same problems and need to find a solution. Since my podcast is just my voice, I don't need it to be of exceptionally high quality. I've discovered that a project bitrate of 41000 and an mp3 output kbps rate of 32 works for me. I hope that it works for you. :)

I rant mostly about Star Wars and Revenge of the Sith, as well as summer movies in general. And I read Neville-fic. I have to say reading those two little drabbles was the most nerve-wracking podcast-related thing I've ever done. I'm not sure if I'll do more of those readings in the future. :)

I've just noticed that since I've set my mp3s at 64k bitrate, all the streams on all my podcasts on all the podcast directories sound like I'm 15 feet tall.

This is bad.

This kills listeners.

So...time to re-render all the files to 80k.
